The Journey Begins

Every great idea starts with a spark, and for me, that spark ignited when I was a teenager. I’ve always loved strategy board games, drawn to the challenge of outwitting opponents and crafting clever tactics. My passion for these games pushed me to imagine worlds of my own—worlds filled with rich histories, engaging characters, and intense strategic possibilities.

That’s how War of Civilizations began. What started as simple sketches and concepts in my notebook slowly evolved into something bigger. But it wasn’t a solo journey; it became a collaborative project with my mom, blending both creativity and perseverance. What began as an exciting hobby at home soon became a full-fledged family endeavor.

From Idea to Board Game

The process of bringing War of Civilizations to life was far more complex than I initially imagined. It wasn’t just about creating a fun game, but about building a universe. Set in a future where climate change has dramatically reshaped the Earth, War of Civilizations drops players into a world of shifting islands, limited resources, and fierce competition.

In the game, players lead powerful clans, each with unique abilities, navigating a world ravaged by tectonic disasters. Resources are scarce, and strategic planning is essential. Players must explore their surroundings, manage their fleets, and make crucial decisions about combat, diplomacy, and resource management to survive. The ultimate goal? Claiming dominance over the coveted Isle of Myth, where treasures and magic await.

What Makes War of Civilizations Special

War of Civilizations offers more than just a typical board game experience. The world is detailed and immersive, with a rich backstory that draws players into a future shaped by the consequences of environmental collapse. But beyond the narrative, the game mechanics are designed to challenge players on multiple levels. Whether you prefer tactical warfare, exploration, or resource management, there’s something in this game for everyone.

With beautifully designed components and two exciting expansions—Pirates and Disasters—players are given a wide range of tools to craft their path to victory. And every game feels fresh, thanks to the modular board design, which allows for endless strategic possibilities.

The Evolution of the Game

Creating a board game is never a straightforward journey. What began as a simple idea grew and evolved through countless playtests, feedback sessions, and international showcases. We were fortunate enough to present War of Civilizations at some of the biggest board game events around the world, like SPIEL in Germany and GenCon in the USA. Every experience gave us new insights and fresh ideas.

The game has gone through many transformations. From enhancing the board’s modular design for more variety in play, to refining the abilities of the Clan Leaders, we’ve continuously worked to improve and fine-tune the game. We also added unique elements like exploration tiles, blind bidding mechanics during combat, and strategic resource management systems, all of which make every game an exciting and unpredictable experience.

Learning from the Process

Creating War of Civilizations taught me so much about game design. One of the biggest lessons? Iteration is key. A good idea becomes a great one through testing, refinement, and often, some tough feedback. Our early versions faced criticism, especially regarding art and rule clarity, which made us realize the importance of working with professionals. We’ve since refined our rulebook with professional editing, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding for all players.

Game design is truly an art and science combined, and with each change, we’ve grown as creators.

What’s Next?

While War of Civilizations is now available for purchase in multiple countries, our journey is far from over. I’m excited about what’s next for BluEncore. We’re working on several new projects, including a game called Biomes of Nilgiris, which will offer a fresh take on strategy games.

Personally, I continue to be deeply involved in playtesting, ensuring that each new game idea is refined and ready for the world. My mom and I still work side by side, sharing the excitement and challenges of each new project. Board games for us are more than just a form of entertainment—they’re a way to bring people together, stimulate critical thinking, and build lasting social connections.
